There is a lot more to Dallas than gridiron Cowboys and memories of J.R. Ewing. The downtown area is peppered with impressive architecture, first-rate eateries, and shops galore. And in neighboring Fort Worth, 30 miles away and closing, you'll find historical buildings, the infamous Stockyards, and the hundred-years-young Sundance Square. In order to take full advantage of all the area has to offer, getting a rental car is the way to go. Whether you choose to pick up your rental car at the airport or from one of the many car rental companies in Dallas, you will find some useful information below to help you get the right rental car for the right price. If you don’t own a car in New York, rent one instead to head out of SoHo and into the Hamptons. Planning a family vacation to the beach? Explore Miami’s South Beach or Little Havana on four wheels, or take advantage of a rental car deal in Los Angeles to take your kids to the theme parks. Having a family reunion in San Francisco? Point your wheels west to reach the City by the Bay. Drive the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and visit Alcatraz.
Cons: The rental car company's name was not on the shuttle bus at the airport. I waited about 20 minutes, tried calling several times (no answer) so I finally had to take a Lyft for $12 to get there before they closed. I asked if their shuttle had stopped running and she told me no. Well, I never saw one... "Oh they say Love Connection on them." That is not the name of the company so how on earth would I ever know to get on that shuttle? They certainly never told me that.
The vast majority of our rentals include Theft Protection, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), local taxes, airport surcharges and any road fees. You'll pay for any ‘extras' when you pick your car up, along with any young driver, additional driver or one-way fees – but we'll explain any additional costs before you book your car (and taking your own child seats or GPS can be an easy way to reduce your costs). For more details on what's included, just check the Ts&Cs of any car you're looking at.
If you're arriving in town by plane, you may wish to pick up your rental car from one of the many car rental companies that serve Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all located in DFW's Rental Car Center. We can also show you a map of the nearest car rental locations to your hotel and the rental cars they carry. (And keep in mind that off-airport car rentals are often cheaper than at the airport, even from the same car rental company.)
Yes, some rental companies accept debit cards for reservations, though they may ask for additional identification and proof of insurance when you book. Even if you can pay with a debit card, some car rental locations require a credit card for the deposit. Be sure to check the terms and conditions. If you don't own a credit card, you may not be permitted to rent a car. Cash, prepaid cards, and gift cards are never accepted for reservations.
