Pros: The rental car center at DFW is a somewhat longer than expected bus ride from your terminal, but busses seem to run on a regular basis. Once at the center, preferred customers are identified on a giant board with the space number marked and you just proceed to your car. Once you check out at the exit, you are on your way. Returns are just as easy, return to the center, get your receipt, and head toward the bus to your terminal.
If you don’t own a car in New York, rent one instead to head out of SoHo and into the Hamptons. Planning a family vacation to the beach? Explore Miami’s South Beach or Little Havana on four wheels, or take advantage of a rental car deal in Los Angeles to take your kids to the theme parks. Having a family reunion in San Francisco? Point your wheels west to reach the City by the Bay. Drive the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and visit Alcatraz.
Your rental experience really matters to us, so we show ratings and reviews from previous customers next to each listing. We ask customers to rate the supplier in seven key areas (including the condition of the car and the efficiency of counter staff), and their feedback will help you make an informed choice when you are deciding who to rent with. If you are keen to avoid hidden fuel charges, we recommend booking a car with a full-to-full fuel policy: as long as you refill the tank before dropping the car off, you won’t be faced with any refuelling costs.
In addition to your {{vm.loyaltyDetails.nextTierName}} benefits, you'll enjoy an automatic upgrade whenever it's available. You'll have an exclusive 800 number for reservations and service. Avis Preferred Plus is yours after completing {{vm.loyaltyDetails.rentalCountToPromote}} rentals or spending over $ {{vm.loyaltyDetails.rentalAmountToPromote}} in a calendar year.

Cons: I was overcharged and didn't realize it at the time. I reserved the car through CarRentals.com at a rate of $37/day. The salesman at the counter told me I could upgrade for $12/day and I agreed. I was charged $30/day more -- $67. When I turned in the car, they said they would email a receipt to me because their computers were down. I never received the receipt by email but my credit card was charged for the higher $67/day rate. I felt like the salesman was trying to upsell me. I will probably not use Avis again.
Yes, some rental companies accept debit cards for reservations, though they may ask for additional identification and proof of insurance when you book. Even if you can pay with a debit card, some car rental locations require a credit card for the deposit. Be sure to check the terms and conditions. If you don't own a credit card, you may not be permitted to rent a car. Cash, prepaid cards, and gift cards are never accepted for reservations.
